Subcontinent of India, has a very dynamic, customer-driven market. One would need a good balance of intellect, social intelligence, flexibility and an enormous amount of leadership capacity to make it here. Many a time, an executive is fired by the company in spite of good performance. But due to some deficiency in attitude, where there is a difference of opinion with the boss so much that they cannot work together, or let it go, thereby stirring a lot of negative feelings in the person who has been fired. There are usually three kinds of feelings which arise out of such incidents. The first scenario where the person, after being fired, is filled with hatred against the company thinking that all companies and bosses are the same, and are biased with regard to ethnicity. This would further shrink his/her personality.

The second scenario involves feelings of shame and apathy towards his/ her job and career, leading to the person becoming submissive, with low self-esteem thinking he/she is not good enough for anything.

The third scenario is when the person spends time analyzing. Contemplating on where they went wrong and how they can make their lives perfect all over again – these are the people who develop a positive mental attitude. They are able to develop a strategy and feel more confident moving forward. They see their situation as an opportunity or a break to get ready for more responsibilities in an industry where they can work engaged in both heart and soul. They are the people who develop a peaceful state of mind even after a bad experience.

But the last scenario happens but rarely. However, people who are fired because of an attitude problem, a difference in opinion, etc,  still have to cope with life changes in a new way, and must learn to view such things, not as a failure, but as a stepping stone to more opportunities and for better changes. Fueling yourself with negative thoughts will only diminish your speed and enthusiasm, and will affect your future career. Try to see above and beyond your limits, and strive to grow as a true professional, whether you are leading or being led.
